Wharton Business School: University Of Pennsylvania

Founded by iconic figure, Benjamin Franklin, the University of Pennsylvania has a global reputation for being an historic Ivy League School. Ivy League Schools in America are known for their selective admissions policies, academic excellence and social elitism. Mr Franklin founded the University on the principles of entrepreneurship, invention and innovation, which were carried through into the business school, established in 1881. Wharton Business School is one of 12 schools at this university, and offers courses at the Philadelphia and San Francisco campuses.

The 11 academic departments at Wharton include accounting, business and public policy, health care management, legal studies and business ethics, and statistics. There are also 25 research centres which prepare studies on subjects such as retailing, insurance and pensions, family businesses, and customer analytics. They also admit students on MBA, Executive MBA and Doctoral programs, which are outlined below:

MBA: The MBA goes by the motto ‘Skills, Network, Brand’, which stands for students being taught a variety of ‘hard skills’ such as finance and marketing, and ‘soft skills’ such as leadership and ethics. They are given access to a ‘network’ of former students, teaching staff, and business leaders to help them develop their careers, and will do all this under the MBA ‘brand’, a symbol of management and leadership training. Tuition costs currently stand at $84,700 for 1 year.

Executive MBA: This course runs for 2 years and builds upon core management skills and knowledge, along with offering the largest choice of elective modules from any business school.  Courses run in Pennsylvania and San Francisco, costing $172,200 in San Francisco, and $162,300 in Philadelphia. These costs include books, course materials, meals and accommodation during study periods.

Doctoral Programs: These courses run for 4-5 years including time spent on research and dissertation. Courses on offer cover a range of subjects, such as a PhD in Health Care Management and Economics, a PhD in Marketing or a PhD in Ethics and Legal Studies.  With the best possible teaching, graduating students go on to work at some of Americas best universities, with some even joining faculty staff abroad.

Executive Education: With business fast moving, it’s important for business managers and leaders across the world to keep track of these changes, and for these people to stay ahead of the game by improving their own skills and knowledge bank. Executive education offers current executives the chance to do just that, with a range of courses combining first class research, up-to-date knowledge, and new business practices. Programs on offer to individuals currently include: Innovation/Technology, Negotiation and Persuasion, and Corporate Governance. There’s also the chance for businesses to tailor their own programs to suit their particular needs.

Four different types of courses, provided by one of the worlds top business schools to thousands of the best calibre students each year. Welcome to Wharton Business School.
